Groups will be facilitated by a professional Counsellor and will comprise of between 6 and 10 people. Group therapy can compliment individual counselling and can be more appropriate for people at certain life stages.
These sessions will be about maintaining independence and well being thus preventing the need for mental health and social care interventions. Group therapy creates awareness of other people’s difficulties and through discussion can provide alternative ways of coping.
Additional benefits are achieved through peer support. Topics will be focused around personal development, assertiveness, relationships and bereavement.
By providing individual counselling or group therapy, this will give you the opportunity to speak about your problem, thus helping to maintain your independence and well-being without the need for mental health and social care intervention.
By preventing acceleration into serious mental health problems or stress related physical illnesses, this will result in:-
- Fewer drugs being prescribed.
- Reduced hospital admissions.
