Partnerships for Older People Projects (POPP) is an initiative led by the Department of Health enabling the development of a range of innovative pilot projects for improving older people’s services in the Wigan Borough. The partner organisations have come together to ensure the achievement of the Project’s central aim in supporting older people in a way which will enable independence during changing times

The Wigan POPP programme aims to support and help older people by providing the following sevices:

Time limited contact and support service.

Counselling support.

Rapid intervention scheme for carers.

Holistic home assessments.

Support for older people and carers from ethnic minorities.

Gardening and handyperson home maintenance scheme.

Crime prevention awareness and support.

Promoting physical
activity for older people - 'STEPPING OUT'

Sheltered housing improvements.
